India is identified as one of the oldest civilizations in the world. The soul of India lies in its agriculture, biodiversity, traditions, languages, religions and cultures. It is important for us to stand together to enrich the soul of our nation.

Agriculture is the main breadwinner for crores of Indians. Rural India feeds the urban and metro population in the vast expanse of our country. Changes in climate and the market conditions affect the life of farmers. I believe that the loss of biodiversity is one of the major reasons for climate change. Just like every man is different from the other in terms of skill and ability, each plant is different in the role it plays with nature. I don’t believe that afforestation alone can correct the after effects caused due to the destruction of biodiversity. Only by enriching the biodiversity we can bring back the balance of the nature to its glory. Our “Rishis” and “Munis” knew the importance of biodiversity and they considered certain plants and trees as sacred and created concepts like “Sarppakkavu”, “Vriksharaja” etc to protect the sacred trees to preserve the bio diversity. We, as a nation should take the lead role in creating awareness on biodiversity and preserving the biodiversity, because it is our part of tradition, culture and dharma to preserve it.

Agricultural theme park: A promising concept for the nation that can benefit the whole world

Being born and brought up as a farmer, I always possessed a great passion for agriculture. After my 13 years of life in the Gulf as a civil engineering supervisor and then as a businessman, I always dreamt of coming back to India and investing on agriculture and farming. Back home, I realised that the farmers in India are the least rewarded people in the world. The traders and intermediaries exploit the poor farmers who take all the risk irrespective of an unprecedented change of climate to feed the nation. They are unable to pay their debt and are often forced to commit suicide.

I decided to stand with the farmers and to invest all my resources, time and knowledge to find a solution for their problem. I conceived the concept of agricultural theme park and started “MangoMeadows Agricultural Pleasure Land”, the first agricultural theme park in the world.

The agricultural theme parks are parks that are made within an agricultural area or adjacent to an agricultural area mainly with an objective to give supplementary income to the farmer and to provide value addition for farm products. The main idea behind the agricultural theme park is to bring the buyer directly to the agricultural farm and to sell farm products directly to the buyer in a value added way without any intermediaries.

I have been working on this project for the past 12 years. I believe that each plant in my garden knows me. I have given so much of care for growing them. Sometimes I had to replant for more than 5 or 6 times to ensure a particular plant to grow, but I never lost my hope in them. When I found out the root cause of their problem and corrected it, they started to grow, even better than the other plants. The goal of my life is to protect the biodiversity and to help the poor farmers to get a better livelihood.

As a believer of dharma and as a son of “Bharath”, it is my duty to participate in the process of nation building.
